Hope everyone is having a great week! Quick post today – restyling my big sleeve top last styled here. The big sleeve trend is still going strong and I wanted to show you guys how versatile this trend can be – from skirts to jeans! I am off to NYC – enjoy your day!
Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend! I want to share this amazing top that I came across last week – it is perfectly on trend with ruffle front and the linen and cotton mix is perfect for summer time. I have worn this top in a variety of ways already – it looks amazing on skinny white jeans and on flared beige or white pants. And it is currently on sale – grab one before they run out!
I hope everyone is having a great week! I want to share some additional pics from SWFW (Fashion Week) in Rosemary last week. These are actually separates that I wore together – red pants and a draped red top with a fun shiny belt to pull it all together. Everyone who approached me all night assumed that it was a dress! When using monochromatic color it is always fun to use some fun textures – fringe, pleats, draped style, etc. to make the outfit visually more interesting. I also added the fun card clutch for a touch of whimsy!
P.S. Just discovered these shoes are 30% today use code MAINEVENT16 – click here
I hope everyone has had a wonderful week! I must confess, I have been enjoying my fall break in Rosemary with the kiddos and Mr. Wonderful, so my blog was on the back burner all week. There is nothing like a week away from home to recharge the batteries. Lucky for me, it also happened to be South Walton Fashion Week, so I was able to attend a number of shows and to see some amazing new emerging talent (as well as the Christian Siriano pre-show peek at Alys beach!) The weather was perfect – blue skies, puffy clouds and a great breeze. Since the show was outdoors, I decided to keep things fun and easy with this super cute pink full skirt (I had mine shortened) and a loose white button down shirt. To give the outfit a little “edge”, I added my studded pumps and a fun belt. I also grabbed my favorite new clutch from Misela (which I purchased at Atrium RTW at a recent trunk show; and the best part – I got to pick my colors and stitching, so of course it is blush pink….)
I hope everyone has been having a great week! The rain has been falling steadily here, but today started with a glimmer of sunshine through my window and it is amazing how much my mood has improved. As I recall sunnier days, I am taken back to this photo shoot from Rosemary Beach…..I am always looking for a fun flirty dress, and when I came across this one it was instant love! The black background with the cream embroidery is the perfect balance of delicate and flirty, and the ruffles across the bodice complement the fun, flirty feel. The dress also comes in a mint green which is gorgeous!
Given all of the embroidery and ruffles on this dress (which deserve to be the center of attention), I added no accessories other than my usual daily jewelry, black block heels (totally on trend) and a black-detailed straw bag. As you know, I love an item of clothing that can do double duty – I have also styled this dress as a fun top, adding a long black skirt and a wide black belt on bottom – no one was the wiser! The dress became two separate pieces of clothing, which makes it a great option for vacation packing….
I have also styled with dress with black ballet flats and a chic black cross-body bag for easy day-to-day errands after school drop-off.
I hope that gives you some good ideas for multiple stylings for the dress!
I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer! I have just wrapped up all of my travels, and I am trying to get back into the swing of things. Every year like clockwork I swear I will keep up with posts over the summer, but between kids home from school and time at the beach, I pretty much end up Rosé All Day (literally…..) But it was definitely an amazing summer, and I miss the sand and surf already (as far as the kids – I am ready for school to start!)
I want to share this amazing dress that I came across at Banana Republic! Since Marissa Webb took over as their Creative Director, there has been a plethora of cool new items added to the collection that are spot-on for day and night. The color of this dress is perfect beach chic (it was the first thing that drew me to it), and the midi-length is very contemporary. The ruffles give it a soft and feminine touch, which is one of my favorite stylings.
I wore the dress out to dinner with friends and kept things simple with lace-up booties and a vintage gold belt. The gold textured belt was the perfect companion to show off the simplicity of the taupe dress. I also recently wore the dress running around for a quick-lunch with white Converse All-Star sneakers and a cross-body bag for a perfectly relaxed look. I cannot wait to style it again for an upcoming return-to-Houston girls night out. I am going to wear it with a big bib necklace, ankle boots and a cropped moto jacket (pictures to come!). I love a versatile piece of clothing, and this dress is perfect from brunch to cocktails to dinner!
I hope everyone has been enjoying their week! I continue to enjoy my stay here in Rosemary Beach….one of my favorite things (there are many) about this area is the fact that I walk or bike everywhere. The inner New Yorker in me doesn’t love to drive, so the ability to get back outside, avoid traffic and just walk to most everything is extremely appealing; however, to paraphrase a well-known movie quote, with the ability to walk comes great responsibility for the feet – enter flats. As you know, I am a huge fan of heels all the time – like any good New Yorker, I generally consider flats to be day-to-day “transportation”. Having said that, I must admit these pompom flats are truly beyond my wildest dreams. They come in various leather and pom-pom color combinations. Thegold tassel one is on its way to me as we speak (cannot wait to greet the FedEx delivery man!)
Pom-Poms are all the rage right now – thank you to Aquazzura and those cool pom-pom stilettos! They are seen everywhere from shoes, to bags, to clothing and at the beach for resort-chic they are spot on!
I hope everyone is having a great summer! I hear the temperatures in Houston are soaring! I am grateful to be in Rosemary Beach enjoying my cool evenings and beautiful beaches. It is difficult to combat the heat and still look chic. Maxi dresses are effortless, easy and double as a beach cover up. I can never resist something that is so multi-functional. I find it difficult sometimes to find a maxi dress that is chic and not tropical crazy. This maxi dress is 100% cotton (perfect for summer) and I love the basic shape with the gorgeous pink color. Also you can’t beat the price at $29.99. I stayed with the bohemian vibe with some long necklaces and a straw bag. And off I go to a yummy lunch at La Créma (fantastic tapas restaurant).
Target maxi (sold out online but you can try locating in store – I also love this peach one here)
I apologize – I have spent the past two weeks hanging out with my mom, so the blog has largely been on vacation. We just got back from Rosemary Beach, where it was perfect weather other than one day of rain when we arrived. Actually I do not mind a little rain on vacation – it is the perfect excuse to curl up in my window nook with a good book. I am currently reading Uncovered by Leah Lax, and I cannot say enough good things about this book – run (do not walk) and get it immediately. Leah was my Table Talk speaker last week at the University of Houston Women’s Studies event. She is an amazing speaker and her life story is captivating – she had the entire table hanging on her every word. I do not want to give too much away, but I promise you will be just as enthralled as I am. I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts about the book if you get a chance to read it.
I just discovered this new knitwear collection by Zara and I am completely smitten. This skirt and sweater are extremely soft and light weight, making them the perfect pieces for a beach vacation. I intend to wear the skirt with a fitted T-shirt and a sweater to stay warm in restaurants at dinner (we tend to over air-condition everything here in Houston…) During the day with flip-flops it will be extremely casual, and at night I just need a pair of heels and some jewelry and I am ready to roll.
I hope everyone has been having a great week! Mr. Wonderful was watching Tiny Houses last night – has anyone seen it? The show is on HGTV and features exactly what the title implies – tiny homes that are anywhere from 200 to 500 sq. ft. (imagine my face wide-eyed and mouth open). As we were watching the show, Mr. Wonderful commented on how nice it would be to have a tiny home (low maintenance), how we could build one for retirement (oh my god, does he even know me?) – potentially out in the middle of nowhere (i.e. on a ranch.) That is when my hives started (I suspect this was all said to get a rise out of me…) The idea of a tiny home is wonderful – it is compact, environmentally friendly, everything has its place, there is no extra “stuff””. I aspire to live this way (I swear), but unfortunately de-cluttering is about as far as I can imagine right now. That is making me feel fabulous! I am currently working on the space above my garage to turn it into an office – the thought of having a separate work place is making me giddy with excitement.
I love maxi dresses – who doesn’t? Maxi’s are a simple and effortless outfit that you can throw on with flip-flops and a ponytail to run errands. I also love to pack maxi’s for trips – warm weather beach trips – it can be used as a beach cover up, or add heels to run out to brunch or dinner. I love multi-functional clothing. I picked this particular maxi because I love the color combination – blush pink, white and black. It is a great balance of soft and strong hues. I added a bit of “hard edge” to the dress with my vintage Hérmes bag and black Tory Burch wedges (I have worn this pair out completely and need to resole them or buy new ones), and my structured straw tote (thanks to Olive Design).
