I hope everyone has been having a great week! Has anyone been to their local library? Going to the library was one of my childhood joys (I know I was a total nerd) and I recently rediscovered it. I have started going weekly again and the joy of the experience is more than I can describe. The library of my youth is a distant cry from what I have encountered recently – you can rent audiobooks, download books and even get the book of your choice sent to your local library. It is a book lovers dream…imagine me swooning. I have been listening to the audiobook The Precious One by Marisa De Los Santos – I have never been a big audio book user but this was a great start to the concept. The book was well narrated and I loved the story immensely which was full of big questions like what makes a family, how long does love last and how do we decide whom to love. I loved it!
I adore this pink velvet skirt – it is one of my favorite purchases made from Target and it is on clearance for $12. I love the shimmer the skirt gives when I walk and the color is just divine! I added an army green jacket and neutral boots. The earrings were great for a pop of color and they are extremely lightweight and fun to wear. This bag makes me giddy with happiness. I saw the bag in London last summer and fell in love with it. It has a great shape and the piercing is kinda sexy. The inside of the bag is a chic pink suede which just makes it even better!
Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday – I have found it extremely difficult getting back into the swing of things. I do not want to leave the warmth of my bed especially with the current cold front in Houston. I may have spent a few days of the break snuggled up in bed with a good book. I just finished The News From Spain: Seven Variations on a Love Story by Joan Wickersham. It is book of short stories which all center around love – love unrequited, love with bad timing, love with complications. Some of the stories are heart wrenching but I thoroughly enjoyed reading each one.
The outfit today is centered around one of my new favorite lace skirts! I love pencil skirts – they are great for dressing up and down. I have worn the skirt with a fun sweatshirt and some flat boots as well. I wanted to dress it up for a night out with friends so I added the button down and a vest for a masculine/feminine mix. The pearls were a fun accessory and the shoes were a great wow factor (I bought them 40% off) and the pink fur was a Christmas gift and perfect for the current cold nights (Mr. Wonderful was spot on with that one).
If it’s still cold in February I may repeat this outfit for Valentine’s Day – I love a good recycled outfit!
I hope everyone had a great weekend! I am a bit behind because my mom is in town and I am just being lazy with her (best fun ever). I wanted to share a quick post on my travel outfit to Miami. I am always cold so I am always looking for a fun lightweight jacket to keep me warm especially on airplanes. This bomber jacket is a gorgeous blue/gray color and it did not wrinkle at all. It is the gift that kept on giving! I added flares, my new favorite earrings (big statement earrings are having a HUGE moment) and some fun sunnies and I was ready to travel!
Hope everyone is enjoying this amazing weather! Gingham is no longer just for tablecloths – it has been transformed into fun dresses, tops, skirts and even shoes for summer. Nothing says summer time like gingham. It is a lightweight cotton that drapes beautifully and is perfect for summer heat. I wore this outfit to lunch and got tons of compliments. I belted my dress and added fun flats. I became instantly brunch ready!
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Sadly I was under the weather all weekend so it has been two days of NyQuil and endless sleep for me! But before I crashed I wore this fun outfit Friday. I am obsessed with my casual bomber find (best $30 I spent) and wanted to restyle it with pants (see here styled with skirt)! It was slightly chilly so I kept it draped on my shoulders but as I got sicker throughout the day I wrapped myself right up in this jacket. I kept to a palate of blues ranging from dark navy to chambray. I added some neutral shoes and I was ready to roll.
Hope you had a great week! I came across this bomber jacket this week and fell in love! It is a light weight chambray and perfect for cold restaurants in Houston and I cannot wait to wear it with pants (insert swooning emoji here). Best part of all…..it is under $30!
I wanted to dress it up for a ladies luncheon so I added a full skirt and some platform heels. Isn’t it wonderful when the party favor is a book and seeds to plant? I am dying to read this and then I am going to watch the movie with Michael Fassbender (he’s kind of dreamy).
It has been too long since my last post and truth be told I have been slacking. The rush of the New Year has left me a bit under the ball (or bus – depending upon the day). I want to share a fun outfit I recently wore to the ladies BAFTA lunch. I have to confess I had completely forgotten about the event even though it was on my planner (iPhone quirks). My sweet girlfriend texted me “the soup is getting cold” – I was perplexed by this until her next text “the luncheon?” So I got up and quickly transformed from my pajamas and ran out to support the Brits. Considering everything I was pretty happy with the final result!
I adore pink (as you know) so I am always looking for new color to combine with my favorite hue. Black is an obvious, grey is a match made in heaven, white is delightful in summer and I added burgundy as a fun fall staple.
It has been a long week – a case of strep is in the house! It has moved from my little one and is now centered on my daughter and Mr. Wonderful. It is only a matter of time before my oldest and I succumb. So I have to keep my post short and sweet today due to sleep deprivation. I wore this out last night for a quick date night dinner to Uchi (I am still silly in love with that place). I came across this T-shirt at Target and love the cheeky frog on it. The vibrant colors on the gray background make it the perfect mix of sober yet fun. I added my flares (also styled here in NYC) and I was ready to roll (long live the flares).
I hope you have had a wonderful week! I want to discuss a fun trend that is still going strong this spring – fringe! This trend was introduced in the fall, but it really accelerated this spring and was seen all over Fashion Week – from Alexander Wang, Ralph Lauren, Givenchy and Marissa Webb to Banana Republic. Fringe epitomizes fun and whimsy, and my motto has always been fashion should be fun! What can be more fun than fringe? I started with this neutral blush pink midi fringe skirt, which is so flirty and feminine, and I added some structure with my current favorite jacket (also seen here and here). A mix of masculine and feminine is always modern. I added my neutral shoes to elongate my legs (I recommend picking a neutral that matches you skin tone – more peachy or beige depending on your undertones), grabbed a straw bag and off I went to dinner….
Also FYI – in case you are looking for new denim flares or skinnies – there is a friends and family event going on at J BRAND – 25% off with code JBFF25. Click immediately before they run out of sizes!
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I spent the weekend enjoying the sunshine and even went out to the Antique Fair off I-45. It was a few hours spent in the sunshine hunting for treasures. An ideal way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
The off the shoulder trend has morphed into a shoulder-less trend for Spring. It is a very cool way to be sexy and show some skin but still retain modesty coverage. I am a huge fan! While at the beach I came across this blush pink shoulder less dress and had to have it. It is very light weight and the pale pink is great for tanned skin. It was a bit chilly so I threw on my current favorite jacket. I have pretty much been living in this jacket since I picked it up.
I enjoy multi-use clothing and I can’t wait to use the dress as a cover up for the beach this summer (insert swoon emoticon).
