I hope everyone had a great weekend! I just got back from a quick getaway to Austin where I dropped off my sweet baby girl to sleep away camp. I am not going to lie – my stomach is churning and I haven’t slept much. BUT I know she is having the best time with one of her best friends (that is what I keep reminding myself anyway). I wore this outfit to Austen – it was the perfect blend of casual and chic. It is also great for a lunch date or a casual night out. I have a huge fascination with army green pants. I have skinny versions, wide leg versions and this boyfriend pair might be my favorite by far. This pair is soft like sweatpants and the slouchy fit is spot on perfect! The silky pink top is the perfect touch of girly and the structured tote (or as my youngest calls it “mommy – your stick bag”) is the finishing touch.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Sadly I was under the weather all weekend so it has been two days of NyQuil and endless sleep for me! But before I crashed I wore this fun outfit Friday. I am obsessed with my casual bomber find (best $30 I spent) and wanted to restyle it with pants (see here styled with skirt)! It was slightly chilly so I kept it draped on my shoulders but as I got sicker throughout the day I wrapped myself right up in this jacket. I kept to a palate of blues ranging from dark navy to chambray. I added some neutral shoes and I was ready to roll.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I just got back from a quick trip to Rosemary Beach. The weather was amazing with daily blue skies. I also got to play some great tennis and have fabulous dinners. I am always on the lookout for the perfect pair of shorts – when I came across these in NYC for under $20 I scooped them up immediately. I love them so much I bought all the colors online after I got home. They are a very lightweight cotton and I adore the high waist and paper bag cinching. Yellow in all its shades (remember my marigold here) is extremely popular this spring and it goes great with blue. I added the fun bib necklace and I was ready to roll!
Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend! I want to share this amazing top that I came across last week – it is perfectly on trend with ruffle front and the linen and cotton mix is perfect for summer time. I have worn this top in a variety of ways already – it looks amazing on skinny white jeans and on flared beige or white pants. And it is currently on sale – grab one before they run out!
Hope everyone had a great weekend! Let’s talk about mustard baby! It is also commonly called maze, goldenrod, sunflower yellow etc. There are certain colors that are undervalued and mustard is one of those colors. It is a densely rich hue that is a mixture of a bit of orange and yellow. The best part of mustard is what you can combine it with – fuchsia, gray, navy (remember this combo here), emerald green and cream.
I was fishing through my closet and I came across this beautiful leopard shirt and this bell sleeved sweater. Bell sleeve sweaters and tops are all the rage right now. There are so many good options available right now – I will link some of my favorites below.
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I couldn’t post Friday because I was playing in the Silver Raquets tennis tournament. The best weekend to have an outdoor tennis event. It was cool and breezy pretty much the entire time. It was a fun event and great to get back into something that I love.
Lace is a huge trend this fall and it is available in nearly every form. From dresses to tops to skirts. I love the delicacy of lace and the beautiful texture and patterns that it creates in one solid color. It is like wearing print but not. I came across this top and just fell in love with the color and shape. I also appreciated the fact that the lace top came with a matching color tank top. It made the top so much easier to wear. The pink is my favorite but I really like the black and white options as well. I paired the top with flared denim but it would be equally fun with skinnies or a pencil skirt.
Hope everyone had a great weekend! I want to share a quick post with you about my new favorite designer – Caroline Constas. I love the voluminous shapes in her tops and dresses. It is a refreshing and edgy take on fashion using weightless cottons (which is a must for Houston heat, which is still going strong…) Her clothing has recently attracted a cult-like following and new items sell out rapidly. I decided to balance the sleeves with some volume on the bottom via flares, but this top would look equally good with skinny black jeans (preferably distressed!)
I hope everyone has had a wonderful week! I must confess, I have been enjoying my fall break in Rosemary with the kiddos and Mr. Wonderful, so my blog was on the back burner all week. There is nothing like a week away from home to recharge the batteries. Lucky for me, it also happened to be South Walton Fashion Week, so I was able to attend a number of shows and to see some amazing new emerging talent (as well as the Christian Siriano pre-show peek at Alys beach!) The weather was perfect – blue skies, puffy clouds and a great breeze. Since the show was outdoors, I decided to keep things fun and easy with this super cute pink full skirt (I had mine shortened) and a loose white button down shirt. To give the outfit a little “edge”, I added my studded pumps and a fun belt. I also grabbed my favorite new clutch from Misela (which I purchased at Atrium RTW at a recent trunk show; and the best part – I got to pick my colors and stitching, so of course it is blush pink….)
I hope everyone has been having a great week! The rain has been falling steadily here, but today started with a glimmer of sunshine through my window and it is amazing how much my mood has improved. As I recall sunnier days, I am taken back to this photo shoot from Rosemary Beach…..I am always looking for a fun flirty dress, and when I came across this one it was instant love! The black background with the cream embroidery is the perfect balance of delicate and flirty, and the ruffles across the bodice complement the fun, flirty feel. The dress also comes in a mint green which is gorgeous!
Given all of the embroidery and ruffles on this dress (which deserve to be the center of attention), I added no accessories other than my usual daily jewelry, black block heels (totally on trend) and a black-detailed straw bag. As you know, I love an item of clothing that can do double duty – I have also styled this dress as a fun top, adding a long black skirt and a wide black belt on bottom – no one was the wiser! The dress became two separate pieces of clothing, which makes it a great option for vacation packing….
I have also styled with dress with black ballet flats and a chic black cross-body bag for easy day-to-day errands after school drop-off.
I hope that gives you some good ideas for multiple stylings for the dress!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I enjoyed the lack of rain thoroughly until Sunday evening that is…but the rain allowed me to indulge in my favorite new podcast – Beautiful Stories from Anonymous People by Chris Gethard. Ever since the Serial Podcast I have pretty much become hooked and am always looking for a new one and the premise of this is hysterical. The host Chris Gethard who is a comedian by trade gets a phone call and he cannot hang up no matter what and cannot stay on the line for more than an hour. It is conversation at its best! I am amazed at how much is realized by individuals and some of it is hysterical and some is heart breaking. But the bottom line is nothing is off-limits – the anonymity created causes some pretty big revelations…check it out here.
I also did some summer shopping – summer travels are around the corner and since I will be spending most of my time at the beach I want clothing that can be transformed from casual to dinner or brunch chic. I came across this top and it has a Chanel-esque quality that I love! It is a bit shredded around the neck and the perfect light weight for summer. Also the boxy shape is silly comfortable!
I added the casual cropped denim, comfy gold slides and grabbed my Céline and I was ready to roll…
