Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday – I have found it extremely difficult getting back into the swing of things. I do not want to leave the warmth of my bed especially with the current cold front in Houston. I may have spent a few days of the break snuggled up in bed with a good book. I just finished The News From Spain: Seven Variations on a Love Story by Joan Wickersham. It is book of short stories which all center around love – love unrequited, love with bad timing, love with complications. Some of the stories are heart wrenching but I thoroughly enjoyed reading each one.
The outfit today is centered around one of my new favorite lace skirts! I love pencil skirts – they are great for dressing up and down. I have worn the skirt with a fun sweatshirt and some flat boots as well. I wanted to dress it up for a night out with friends so I added the button down and a vest for a masculine/feminine mix. The pearls were a fun accessory and the shoes were a great wow factor (I bought them 40% off) and the pink fur was a Christmas gift and perfect for the current cold nights (Mr. Wonderful was spot on with that one).
If it’s still cold in February I may repeat this outfit for Valentine’s Day – I love a good recycled outfit!
I hope everyone is having a fabulous week and staying out of the heat! I have been really enjoying my quiet time in Houston before I take off for Colorado – the city is less crowded and I get to go to my favorite restaurants as often as I like! I am becoming quite the regular at La Table – the lamb burger is out of this world for lunch and do not even get me started on the fantastic avocado and cucumber salad. Yummy! I wore this out to lunch with a girlfriend the other day at La Table – perfect for a ladies brunch (or even date night)!
I hope everyone is having a great week! Summer is upon us – kids are out of school (or almost out in my case), temperatures are rising and mothers everywhere are wondering how to keep kids occupied. So naturally – I went on date night to figure it out. 🙂
I just bought this amazing skirt for $49! The blue-gray color is so beautiful (I also bought the red) and the length is perfect for dressing up and dressing down. Usually when skirts are so inexpensive they tend to be too short for my liking but this is a fabulous over the knee-length and the sheer bottom gives it a sexy vibe. I wanted to keep it a bit casual so I added a Mickey shirt (who doesn’t love this ears?). To carry my essentials I added the it bagof the year in mother off pearl. I am sure you have seen this bag all over magazines and I have to say it doesn’t disappoint. It is beautifully crafted and the mother of pearl is spot on for summer. I must confess I may have purchased a few other colors….
Hope everyone has been having a good week! Just a quick post today about some of my favorite things on rotation right now – big sleeve top and bow flats! I came across this fun $24 bag and it reminded me of the Chloé bag (seen all over the place right now) and I had to have it. Isn’t it divine?
The post is late today because my “super-duper fast” internet was completely not working all day. The cable guy came and of course it starts working and he does nothing and looks at me like a crazy lady.
I love the pencil skirt from the other day (seen here – it’s on a crazy sale right now), so I decided to stay with the same theme but dress it up for dinner. I kept everything monochromatic so my sequins wouldn’t be the center of attention.
I hope everyone has had a wonderful week! The weather here is currently all over the place (hence the crazy wind in my hair in the photos.) I have a story behind the t-shirt that I am wearing for this post! The shirt is a caricature of Coco Chanel, one of my all-time favorites, accompanied by the statement “I don’t give a chic”. I bought this t-shirt at a Souk (market) in Dubai because of my Mom. Even when my Mom is really upset, she does not use foul language – however, recently in a discussion she surprised me with the term “I don’t give a shiiiiiiit” (the i sounded like a very long e.) It made me laugh out loud, and I couldn’t resist this t-shirt as a result.
I love pencil skirts! They have an understated elegance and sex appeal. This gray metallic tweed can be dressed up or down, as I have done here with the addition of the whimsical t-shirt (this skirt would also look great with some All-Stars and a white-T.) I also love it more polished with a white button down, and here I kept the rest of the outfit upscale with my cape (super hero moment) and stilettos.
I hope everyone has had a great week! I am off to Rosemary for the weekend so I will definitely be doing some outfit posts. It is my happy place – what can I say?
Today, I want to play with some different textures and this feather belt was the inspiration. It has such a soft romantic vibe and paired with the leather it became the perfect balance of hard and soft. The pumps in pony hair leopard were also a great addition to the textures.
And that’s my puppy Sher Khan – he is 12 years old but you would never know it because he is just a glamazon!
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and you got to enjoy the amazing weather! Cool breezes, sunshine, and 80 degrees – it was San Diego gorgeous…
And with the spirit of fall in the air I broke out the tweed. The details on this pencil skirt are divine – the metallic tweed, the golden zipper, the flecks of purple…it is the perfect mix of masculine material and feminine chic.
