Everyone Needs Black Sequin Leggings

Hello lovelies!

I hope everyone is staying warm in this deep freeze going on across the country!  I am running out of sweaters – so I need it to warm up just a smidge.  I think I may have turned into a bear the last few weeks and consequently I have been practicing my hibernating skills and not posting.

The one positive thing about this weather is – perfect for a fire, a blanket and a good book.  I am doing the GoodReads challenge for 2018 and have pledged to read 50 books this year.  A bit daunting but I think it can totally be done!  I just finished reading The Dry by Jane Harper – it is a murder mystery.  I generally do not enjoy these types of novels because I figure them out too easily but this one had me guessing until the very end.  I loved it!

After the holidays I wanted to incorporate some sequins into my looks – why give the sequins up?  I think everyone needs a good pair of black sequin leggings.  They are a great piece to dress up or down depending upon the occasion.  I wore mine with a simple black top and added a fringe cropped blazer for a fun element.  The sequin leggings look just as good with a basic chunky black sweater, or a satin shirt and a long blazer, or a white button down and black moto jacket…the possibilities are endless!  Invest in a pair – I promise you won’t regret it.

Valentine’s Day: Sequin Dress & Leopard Vest

Hello lovelies!

Hope everyone has had a good week! I am still fighting this crazy cough (I sound like an 80 year-old smoker), but mind over matter I keep telling myself.

I want to share my Valentine’s Day outfit today (I told Mr. Wonderful not to peek at the post). I love Valentine’s Day, so much so that I send out a family Valentine’s Day card every year (very much like most people’s family Christmas photos!) Who can possibly resist the idea of celebrating love? And I am super excited because this year I am celebrating the big day in Rosemary Beach (drumroll…our new house is finally done!!!!) In your mind, please imagine me jumping up and down right now….

When I saw this dress a few weeks ago I fell in love with the color and the muted sequins (I also bought the skirt seen here). The boxy shape is comfortable and the length is super sexy. The dress is also on sale with another 40% off online, so it is only $50 right now. I wanted to keep warm since we are experiencing another cold front so I threw on the fun fur as a cover up. I adore these old booties from Schutz – I have them in black and have been looking for them in other colors for awhile but they were sold out. I found this pair – brand new and in the box on Poshmark. I basically swooned when I found them. Poshmark is an on-line community where you can resell your wardrobe – it has everything from clothing to accessories and shoes. It is super easy to use – you download the postmark app on your phone, and take pictures of items for sale on your phone to upload to the app. When an item sells you get the shipping label sent to you and all you have to do is pack and ship. I do a lot of my consigning on my postmark closet – you should definitely check it out.

P.S.  The Serial follow-up to Adnan Syed case is on right now – Sarah Koening is doing three follow up episodes.

Monochromatic: Sequin Pencil Skirt & Python

Hello lovelies!

The post is late today because my “super-duper fast” internet was completely not working all day.  The cable guy came and of course it starts working and he does nothing and looks at me like a crazy lady.

I love the pencil skirt from the other day (seen here – it’s on a crazy sale right now), so I decided to stay with the same theme but dress it up for dinner.  I kept everything monochromatic so my sequins wouldn’t be the center of attention.

Jacquard Asymmetrical Skirt, Floppy Hat & Flats

Hello lovelies!

Hope everyone is having a great week and enjoying the short reprieve from the rain!  I cannot get enough of this amazing weather and I must confess….Mr. Wonderful has convinced me to start…..cycling!  I know I haven’t processed this yet either….I have to say upfront the outfit is not very cute no matter how much pink I throw at it (and I am throwing a lot of accessories at it!)  But I do love to be outdoors and the current weather is a great motivator.  I am still getting use to the ummmm…seat, but other than that I have not enjoyed being in the outdoors this much in a long time.

Does anyone remember when they learned how to ride a bike?  It is my single most prominent memory of my childhood.  My father taught how me to ride, and I can still remember his very large frame on my tiny red BMX pedaling away to show me the motion.  When my turn came, he swore he wouldn’t let go, and of course as soon as I started pedaling quickly he did.  I turned around and when I saw that he had let go, I promptly turned the wheel and ran into a wall.  Like a good student I dusted myself off and got back on the bike, and since that moment for me cycling represented my very first freedom – the ability to get somewhere without my parents (and for a relatively sheltered child it was amazing!)  I still get that same sense of freedom even today – I will keep you posted on my cycling adventures.

Meanwhile, I wore this yesterday to a few meetings.  I adore this asymmetrical skirt (also styled here) and I wanted to keep it chic but easy with flats.  These shoes are one of my favorite flats (I rarely wear flats, but I like the slight stacked bottom on this pair) and they go with just about everything I own.  The floppy hat trend continues through this fall and it is great for bad hair days (yup I was lazy this day).

Flares, Long Tunic and Sequin Sleeve Jacket

Hello lovelies!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and remained as dry as possible!  I cannot tell a lie I did enjoy the first day of torrential rain with coffee and a good book (I am currently reading An Unneccessary Woman).  But as the rainy days have wore on and events have gotten canceled –  I am pretty done with the rain at this point.

Today, I want to share an outfit I wore right before the rain storm started.  I previously styled this tunic here with skinnies but I wanted to try it with flares today.  This long tunic works with both silhouettes and is extremely flattering on different body shapes.  The neutral color is also perfect for playing with different colors and today I added some army green through the jacket (see jacket styled here with a maxi).  It was the perfect outfit that took me from meetings to date night.

Army Green Sequins & Flowing Pink Maxi

Hello lovelies!

Hope everyone is having a great week!  Current cooler temperatures ask for layers so a great jacket with sequin sleeves is just perfect.  I am experimenting a bit with my favorite color – blush pink.  I wanted to toughen it up a bit so I added the army green jacket (yeah for 65 degree weather).  I have  not been able to stop wearing this jacket so keep a watch out for other OOTDs over the next few weeks.

Borrowed From The Boys – Sparkly Skaters & Jogging Pants

Hello lovelies!

So sorry I have been behind in posting on the blog but it is all due to back to school madness!

It is still scorching here in Houston but I had some meetings indoors – I took advantage and put on some layers.  The borrowed from the boys look is a huge trend this fall.  The key to wearing this trend is to keep elements of the outfit feminine.  The cross body bag in a girly silver and sparkly skater shoes were the perfect details.  Skater shoes are still going strong for fall and these sparkly ones made my heart thump.  Did I mention these beauties are $24.99? I bought an extra pair in case I wore this pair out.

Midi Skirt restyle: Sequin Lips & Louboutins

Hello lovelies!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  I had a great weekend other than the Game of Thrones finale last night.  I always read the book first but for GoT I like watching the series and don’t want to know what is coming.  I am not so sure about this anymore since I have no idea what happened last night.  Spoiler alert – Jon Snow can’t possibly be dead, can he??  If he is truly gone – I am going to be very disappointed (that is putting it mildly).

Today, I want to share my Banana Republic midi skirt restyle.  I loved it uptown chic (seen here) but now I felt it needed a downtown cool vibe.  Best way to do that – a sequined T-shirt.

Army Green Is Taking Over My Wardrobe – Dash of Orange, Leopard & Sequins

Hello lovelies!

I hope you had a wonderful week getting back into the full swing of everyday life.  It has been raining excessively in Houston, but at least it is warmer, and I think there is an end in sight. Hurrah!

Today I want to share a color that has been slowly taking over my closet (apparently it is an insurgency…)  Army green!
