Now in its fourth year, Fashion Houston is an annual event that showcases amazing established and up-and-coming designers. The Wortham Center (home of the Houston Ballet) is transformed into a runway for several nights, and the atmosphere is magical. Last night was a fantastic line up of designers – Rolando Santana, Chloe Dao, David Peck and Yigal Azrouel.
Rolando Santana single-handedly brought back the trumpet skirt, which I love. I really enjoyed Chloe Dao’s use of fun jewelry with all of her pieces – bedazzled red lips, lips with a dangling cigarette, and huge rings covering almost every knuckle proclaiming the wearer’s “cool”. Local designer David Peck used a fun palette of colors and prints in his spring line. The show closed with tailored sexy pieces from Yigal Azrouel (he even managed to make innocent eyelet look ultra sexy on last night’s runway…)
I want to share my outfit from last night, which was sparked by my maxi skirt. I am pondering the meaning of “style” a lot these days as I post my fashion inspirations. I think fashion can sometimes sound like a loud scream, but it can also be a soft whisper – the hint of something more. Monochromatic style falls in the latter category. It is not the loudest scream in the room, but to me it represents the height of elegance.
As you have likely noticed, I am in love with this leather peplum top right now. I know I have styled it in a few ways in prior posts (see here and here) but it is a truly versatile look, and I promise I will show some new tops next week!
This shade of fuchsia makes me giddy…
Have a wonderful weekend!
