I am behind on posting this week but truthfully I am just having a hard time getting back into the swing of things post holiday. But I should be back on schedule next week (fingers crossed)!
I want to share this absolutely adorable tutu dress which is so user-friendly. You know I love a good tutu (see here) – they are extremely fun and flirty. However, I do realize that not everyone wants to walk around in a tutu all the time. This dress has the perfect element of sweet to it but with the addition of the leather jacket it becomes edgier. I love the juxtaposition of the two elements which make it feel contemporary. My accessories are to a minimum to keep things simple and sleek.
tutu dress (also love the black tutu dress as well)
As I write this – I am simultaneously packing for a long getaway. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed because I am off to South Asia for a wedding and a girls trip to the Middle East tonight! I am super excited for both. There will be no posts through next week because I am not quite sure if my wi-fi connection will be stable. But if it is available, I will be posting (pinky promise). I am excited to share the colors, mountains and deserts with you when I return (lots of photos will be taken). In the meantime, enjoy this fun night out outfit. I was getting my hair done today so it was pulled back yesterday (I know it must be weird to see it this way – I rarely wear it pulled back).
On a rainy day there is no better way to perk up than with pops of color and this skirt was the perfect starting point. The emphasis was on the pink for this OOTD so the shoes and top were the perfect combo.
I hope you had a great week! I have been a bit swamped with the house in Florida – trying to pull everything together from over 600 miles away is a challenge but still very exciting.
Today, I want to share a date night outfit. Before I go any further I need to talk about my current series obsession. I love uncovering a series when it is all complete because then you can go on a non-stop marathon watching binge. Sons of Anarchy – I mean how did I miss this series? I am officially obsessed and am thinking I need to join a motorcycle gang and become someone’s old lady. 🙂
The sweater dress is a trend this fall and in many ways ideal because it is the height of comfort. And I love the idea of one but could not find one which was flattering and trendy at the same time. This dress is perfect and it can easily go from day to night with a change of accessories. It is made of a soft ribbed knit and the color blocking is spot on perfect. With motorcycles on my mind, I threw in some hard accessories like my crocodile cuff and spiked clutch to edge it up.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far! I have some exciting news to share – the article Winter Whites & Gold Midas Touch is featured in this week’s Independent Fashion Bloggers Project Roundup #124 as one of their favorites. Independent Fashion Bloggers is a site with over 52,000 members, each with their own fashion blogs. Each week they have a fun contest featuring different themes. Congratulations to all the other winners it was a fabulous selection of Winter Whites. And thank you to the IFB for this amazing honor – it was the perfect holiday gift for me to receive this season!
How happy do I look?
As the holidays are almost upon us, I want to share some hostess gift ideas that I have seen and given this holiday season.
Autumn is a distant thought in Houston right now as temperatures are still hovering in the mid-90s. The color of this dress is about as close to a colder climate as I am going to get at the moment. One of the fall trends this year is monochromatic looks – black and white being the most popular (as seen on the Alexander Wang and Celine runways). I decided to use this dress as a palate to experiment with this trend, and I added a pop of black with the belt. Monochromatic pairings always look chic to me.
I debuted this look last night at a dear friend’s birthday party. It was an all-girl affair, and I had been looking forward to it all week. One of my favorite parts of the night was the laughter. Great friends have a way of putting everything in your life in perspective. Happy Birthday again to my dear friend – I hope you had as much fun as I did!
