Greetings from London! I have been encountering some technology issue so I apologize for not posting sooner! I am here for a fun family holiday and the weather is extremely hot! They are experiencing a heat wave – and without air conditioning at most places (my inner Houstonian almost passed out) it gets to be a bit toasty. I have been dreaming of ice cubes quite a bit. But heat wave aside the city is gorgeous and still one of my favorite places ever!
This is a quick post of a dress I came across during the Nordstrom sale that I wore out to a fun girls lunch! The lace is absolutely gorgeous and the color of this dress is out of this world. When I saw it I was reminded of the Self-Portrait lace dress (worn here) but at a much more reasonable price (and its on sale)! Win-win all around.
Hope everyone is having a great week and enjoying the short reprieve from the rain! I cannot get enough of this amazing weather and I must confess….Mr. Wonderful has convinced me to start…..cycling! I know I haven’t processed this yet either….I have to say upfront the outfit is not very cute no matter how much pink I throw at it (and I am throwing a lot of accessories at it!) But I do love to be outdoors and the current weather is a great motivator. I am still getting use to the ummmm…seat, but other than that I have not enjoyed being in the outdoors this much in a long time.
Does anyone remember when they learned how to ride a bike? It is my single most prominent memory of my childhood. My father taught how me to ride, and I can still remember his very large frame on my tiny red BMX pedaling away to show me the motion. When my turn came, he swore he wouldn’t let go, and of course as soon as I started pedaling quickly he did. I turned around and when I saw that he had let go, I promptly turned the wheel and ran into a wall. Like a good student I dusted myself off and got back on the bike, and since that moment for me cycling represented my very first freedom – the ability to get somewhere without my parents (and for a relatively sheltered child it was amazing!) I still get that same sense of freedom even today – I will keep you posted on my cycling adventures.
Meanwhile, I wore this yesterday to a few meetings. I adore this asymmetrical skirt (also styled here) and I wanted to keep it chic but easy with flats. These shoes are one of my favorite flats (I rarely wear flats, but I like the slight stacked bottom on this pair) and they go with just about everything I own. The floppy hat trend continues through this fall and it is great for bad hair days (yup I was lazy this day).
It is so good to be home! I just got back on Sunday night and I am absolutely delirious with jet lag. As a result I will keep todays post short. But briefly – my wedding was fantastic! It was good to see so many family and friends after such a log time. All the little kids I remembered are now in their teens and I barely recognized anyone. It was great to spend a little bit of time and have some good laughs and fun memories. I stopped in Dubai on the way back for a little girl time with my bestie and all I can say – it was love at first sight! My girlfriend really knows how to show a girl a good time because I ate at amazing food, did some fantastic shopping, and met some truly great women. I can’t wait to go back in December!
Today I want to share this asymmetrical skirt that I wore in Dubai. It is such cheeky fun and I kept it all simple with black T, black pumps and the pop of red came from my lips and my bag.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! You know I love leather (see here and here) and this trend is still going strong for summer. I came across this skirt, and with temperatures soaring in Houston, it is a great way to indulge in the leather trend in a comfortable way. The midi skirt has been around for a while and it can be a bit challenging to wear due to the length for me because of my small stature. I added the neutral blush pumps to help elongate my legs. Depending on your skin tone – a neutral shoe can range from a light beige to a pink to a brown. I would advise a color that closely blends into your skin tone.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! My Mom is visiting again and thus I spent the entire weekend eating lots of yummy food, and getting pampered silly. I forgot to share this OOTD from a few weeks ago and in my current mood it is exactly what I needed.
Urania Gazelli bag, BCBG belt, Banana Republic animal bracelets (mine are sold out but here is a great Jaguar bracelet and a Khaleesi bracelet (i.e. dragons :)), Cartier bracelets, Pearl earrings via St. Barth
I hope everyone is having a great week! We have been experiencing a slight temperature dip recently – perhaps the last hooray before the heat begins. I decided to use multiple layers and all my favorite cold weather items – blazer, leather leggings, button down and skinny belt.
Hope you are having a great week! Spring is creeping back into the picture these days, and I am delighted beyond words (especially true for my friends on the east coast). Today I want to focus on a personal favorite trend again – black and white. It is such an easy go-to option for me.
