I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I thoroughly enjoyed mine and have added it to the list of great holiday memories. I have to be honest I didn’t do anything other than create the turkey (pretty much what I do every year). My nephew was in charge of cranberry sauce (I am going to add – just to brag about him that it was made from scratch), my niece made the stuffing (her speciality) and I had two sets of friends over with their kids who covered the sweet potato casserole, the salad, fresh made french bread (insert emoticon with crazy eyes) and several pies from scratch. I actually felt bad I had not done more! But it was a great day making great memories.
Since we are experiencing a cold snap (thank goodness) I have taken out some tall boots. These fringe boots are one of my oldies but goodies and honestly they make everything look good. I added the faux leather skirt and played with proportions with the crop top. Gold accessories rounded it all out.
Hope everyone is having a great week! I am just getting off of the high of seeing Salman Rushdie at the Inprint reading on Monday night. He was absolutely incredible – his knowledge of literature to politics to history is absolutely incredible (so pretty much everything). And his sense of humor is divine – have I ever mentioned how much I love a funny guy? I can not wait to start reading the book – Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights (i.e. 1001 Arabian Nights).
The borrowed from the boys category is a full on trend this season (see my tux and button down styled here) and what says prep school more than a navy blue blazer? This particular blazer received my attention because of the sleek white satin lapel which gave it a cool twist. While the gold buttons on the sleeves kept it classic. It is a great way to incorporate the boys trend and still keep it modern and not “literally” borrowed from the boys. I also wanted a dash of fun and girly so the button down in the cobalt leopard was just what I needed to complete the look. I can’t wait to wear my leopard again! The fringe shoes are still going strong so if you haven’t purchase a pair yet – check out my fun high and low finds below.
I have not been able to post the past few days because unfortunately I have injured myself . First things first – I am selling my house in Rosemary Beach (very sad but good news I am building a new house in Rosemary) and while I was packing up some boxes and lifting them out the door I must have torn a muscle in my chest. I pretty much can’t move my left side, can’t drive, can’t hold or push anything. I came home on Sunday and went straight to the ER – I have been here since. Monday morning I had surgery to remove the fluids which had built up and it turns out the fluid was infected so now I am taking tons of antibiotics to ensure there is no infection.
All the nurses over the past three days have been incredible and they have made my stay so comfortable and so painless! The doctors are good but the nurses make all the difference during your stay in a hospital. I am hopefully checking out today and I am looking forward to being less loopy and going home to sleep in my own bed. Hopefully I will continue to mend and can get back to my outfit posts very soon.
When I saw these shoes Pigalle Follies by Christian Louboutin, I loved them right away. The color is so vibrant and versatile. The flowers on the shoe have a watercolor painting quality to them and that makes them just dreamy! They also have a perfect heel at four inches and I have visions of pairing them with casual outfits and some dressy ones as well.
I hope everyone had a great weekend! I want to share an outfit with some layers – a small cold front swept through Houston this weekend and I am taking full advantage (My suede jacket had to be brought out immediately – I previously styled it with jeans here). I decided to play with two of my favorite color combinations – fuchsia and green.
Alice + Olivia skirt (love this seasons color here), Club Monaco jacket (love this green moto here and here), Bottega Veneta clutch (love this one here), Christian Louboutin shoes, pearl necklace, Cartier bracelets, Joannie Jacomini pearl bracelet, ZeroUV sunnies
Hope everyone is looking forward to the long weekend. Labor Day is the last hooray before summer ends and I am taking a trip to San Antonio this morning. I have never been before so I would love any and all recommendations!
Here is a look from my event at Mio Boutique last Saturday morning. It was a fun morning of shopping, mimosa’s and mingling. If you didn’t get a chance to stop by please go and visit the shop – they have some wonderful things! I am especially a big fan of the Maretta Venezuela shoes. They are just dreamy. I can’t wear to share mine!
The start of summer is officially here and that means wearing fun, bright colors, which instantly made me think of this Robert Rodriguez dress. One of my favorite things is clothing and accessories that can be worn in many different ways – I always advise my clients to buy items that are multi-functional (it is great value when one item can be worn again and again in many situations!) I wore this dress in a past post here and decided to restyle the dress as a top because I love the color and pattern.
I am a huge fan of Game of Thrones, and I have been increasingly enticed by the build-up from their previews. You know the slogan “Winter is Coming” – it seems to occupy my brain (on repeat), hence why today we will focus on my own rhapsody on a theme: Spring is Coming…
