This will have to be short and sweet today because I am battling a migraine headache. I rarely get them but when I do they tend to linger. I want to share this gorgeous bustier with preppy buttons and chic color combination (it is also gorgeous in navy and black). There is a sale going on right now so use code GOBIG16. Since there is a bit of chill in the air (yeah for Houston) I added a top underneath for some extra warmth. This would also look amazing on a midi skirt or flare jeans. It has the ability to be dressed up and down!
I hope everyone has had a wonderful week! The weather here is currently all over the place (hence the crazy wind in my hair in the photos.) I have a story behind the t-shirt that I am wearing for this post! The shirt is a caricature of Coco Chanel, one of my all-time favorites, accompanied by the statement “I don’t give a chic”. I bought this t-shirt at a Souk (market) in Dubai because of my Mom. Even when my Mom is really upset, she does not use foul language – however, recently in a discussion she surprised me with the term “I don’t give a shiiiiiiit” (the i sounded like a very long e.) It made me laugh out loud, and I couldn’t resist this t-shirt as a result.
I love pencil skirts! They have an understated elegance and sex appeal. This gray metallic tweed can be dressed up or down, as I have done here with the addition of the whimsical t-shirt (this skirt would also look great with some All-Stars and a white-T.) I also love it more polished with a white button down, and here I kept the rest of the outfit upscale with my cape (super hero moment) and stilettos.
Just a quick post – I am swamped with work today and my plate is overflowing! Do you ever wonder where the hours go sometimes? The weather has (finally) cooled down so I pulled out some over the knee boots.
I hope your having a great week! I am still recovering from serious jet lag – I hear it is one day per each hour of time difference. That puts getting back to Houston time at 10 days for me. Ouch….
I wanted to share some funny stories – like the fact that my iPhone completely stopped working the second I left the US. No camera, no apps (i.e. no books to read), no email, no Candy Crush or Words with Friends. It was actually very strange to be so disconnected but at the same time kind of liberating (after days of frustration). It was a very peaceful 10 days (other than when I couldn’t find my girlfriend at the airport for an hour).
Flares are all the rage this fall and winter, and since we live in Houston I took advantage of the no one cares it is after Labor Day (who even follows the after labor day rule about white?). I came across these flares and fell in love with them. They are perfect because they are not bright white but have a tinge of ivory to them. Perfect for winter! I added a red tunic and gold belt and I was ready to roll. This Taylor & Tessier necklace is also a current favorite of mine. I can’t stop wearing it – it goes with everything!! I wore it everyday while I was traveling.
I hope everyone has had a great week! I am off to Rosemary for the weekend so I will definitely be doing some outfit posts. It is my happy place – what can I say?
Today, I want to play with some different textures and this feather belt was the inspiration. It has such a soft romantic vibe and paired with the leather it became the perfect balance of hard and soft. The pumps in pony hair leopard were also a great addition to the textures.
And that’s my puppy Sher Khan – he is 12 years old but you would never know it because he is just a glamazon!
Hope everyone is having a good week! I just wanted to share a quick post about some burgundy love. This reddish-brown color always reminds me of fall. When I start seeing this color I know that my favorite season is about to start. The spark was this gorgeous leather top and I built everything around it. And who doesn’t love a good union jack accessory?
Leather top (mine is very old but I love this exact replica here)
Maxi skirt (mine is old but love this maxi here and its $23)
Fall is almost here all around the country – other than Houston. But let us focus on the good news. As much as I am a huge fan of the skinny jean this fall it is all about the Flare. The 70s were a huge part of runway trends for the fall – hence the fringe, suede, saddle bag and flares. There is every possible combination available but these gray flare jeans are perfect. They fit like a glove and the color goes with 99% of my wardrobe. I can not wait to restyle them.
I wanted a neutral outfit to highlight the flares so I kept to a gray palette.
So sorry I have been behind in posting on the blog but it is all due to back to school madness!
It is still scorching here in Houston but I had some meetings indoors – I took advantage and put on some layers. The borrowed from the boys look is a huge trend this fall. The key to wearing this trend is to keep elements of the outfit feminine. The cross body bag in a girly silver and sparkly skater shoes were the perfect details. Skater shoes are still going strong for fall and these sparkly ones made my heart thump. Did I mention these beauties are $24.99? I bought an extra pair in case I wore this pair out.
I am just finishing up my visit to Ohio and my nephew’s baptism was wonderful. He had the best temperament and was the perfect gentleman throughout the whole process. Here is what I wore to his baptism – he deserved a little dress up. And extra bonus – the dress doesn’t wrinkle because it is a scuba like material.
