I hope everyone had a great weekend! I want to share a quick post about this gorgeous dress that I took to Miami with me. I wore it out to dinner with Mr. Wonderful and when I came out he exclaimed “babe that is the definition of pretty in pink! Of course that made me even happier. This dress is really well made and fits perfectly off the rack. The lace is heavy weight which makes it fit nicely and it is spot on with the lace trend. The price point cannot be beat especially when compared to other lace dresses on the market. I added nude heels to keep the focus on the dress and some gold circle earrings (my new faves) and I was ready for date night!
I hope everyone is having a great week! I just returned from Rosemary Beach (my personal heaven) from a mother-daughter getaway with my sweet baby girl. How often does a girl turn seven? I enjoyed every second of the big weekend, and it was amazing watching her with her friends (it’s funny how you can see glimmers of who they will be when they are old enough for their own weekend getaways….) I can only imagine the future (insert crazy eye emoticon).
I have been anxious to restyle this sleeveless blazer (styled here with jeans). This blazer is perfect for the Houston heat, and I decided to style it with a flirty fun skirt to show its versatility. Since the last styling was casual cool, I went uptown chic with it this time (it does go with everything). I added the super high heels (always) and some fun jewelry (remember when I styled it here with an all white summer look) and I was ready to roll for sunset cocktails. Why call it happy hour when “sunset cocktails” sounds so much more civilized? (genius Dubai, just genius).
I hope everyone had a great weekend! I have been recovering a bit this week from the kids’ break and the tennis tournament last week. Apparently after taking ten days off to do nothing, my body doesn’t feel like working out anymore (insert emoticon in pain here) and prefers sleeping late and enjoying lattés and vino. I have been persevering as much as I can – my only consolation is that I had a really nice tan!
I am a huge skirt fan and the midi length is spot on for heels and flats and so effortlessly elegant. I came across this skirt in several shades of blue and I had to have it! It is perfect to wear all summer and at the beach (wink-wink). The pattern is quite bold, so I kept the accessories to a minimum. I love these neutral basic shoes – I originally saw the Stuart Weitzman Nudist pair and fell in love with them BUT they were toe crunchers (I couldn’t even walk around the store…) I then came across this luxe for less pair and bought them in three colors (yup three – neutral, black and white). The front strap is wide and the bottom of the sole is cushioned so I can actually walk in them for long periods of time.
Hope everyone has had a good week! I am still fighting this crazy cough (I sound like an 80 year-old smoker), but mind over matter I keep telling myself.
I want to share my Valentine’s Day outfit today (I told Mr. Wonderful not to peek at the post). I love Valentine’s Day, so much so that I send out a family Valentine’s Day card every year (very much like most people’s family Christmas photos!) Who can possibly resist the idea of celebrating love? And I am super excited because this year I am celebrating the big day in Rosemary Beach (drumroll…our new house is finally done!!!!) In your mind, please imagine me jumping up and down right now….
When I saw this dress a few weeks ago I fell in love with the color and the muted sequins (I also bought the skirt seen here). The boxy shape is comfortable and the length is super sexy. The dress is also on sale with another 40% off online, so it is only $50 right now. I wanted to keep warm since we are experiencing another cold front so I threw on the fun fur as a cover up. I adore these old booties from Schutz – I have them in black and have been looking for them in other colors for awhile but they were sold out. I found this pair – brand new and in the box on Poshmark. I basically swooned when I found them. Poshmark is an on-line community where you can resell your wardrobe – it has everything from clothing to accessories and shoes. It is super easy to use – you download the postmark app on your phone, and take pictures of items for sale on your phone to upload to the app. When an item sells you get the shipping label sent to you and all you have to do is pack and ship. I do a lot of my consigning on my postmark closet – you should definitely check it out.
P.S. The Serial follow-up to Adnan Syed case is on right now – Sarah Koening is doing three follow up episodes.
It seems I am a bit obsessed with feathers this week. I love wearing an all black outfit (occasionally) and the best way to indulge in head to toe black is by varying the textures. Velvet flares (totally on trend) and black ostrich feathers seem a perfect way to mesh the holidays and a bit of cheeky fun.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! It is full on holiday party time and I wanted to share this amazing dress I just came across! I have a thing for ostrich feathers – they are soft, fun and give such great texture to an outfit. This dress had me at first glance. I kept things simple with an all black outfit but added a pop of silver with the clutch. This dress is great for many occasions – holiday party, girls night out and of course New Year’s Eve! I can not wait to restyle it!
Hope everyone is having a great week and enjoying the short reprieve from the rain! I cannot get enough of this amazing weather and I must confess….Mr. Wonderful has convinced me to start…..cycling! I know I haven’t processed this yet either….I have to say upfront the outfit is not very cute no matter how much pink I throw at it (and I am throwing a lot of accessories at it!) But I do love to be outdoors and the current weather is a great motivator. I am still getting use to the ummmm…seat, but other than that I have not enjoyed being in the outdoors this much in a long time.
Does anyone remember when they learned how to ride a bike? It is my single most prominent memory of my childhood. My father taught how me to ride, and I can still remember his very large frame on my tiny red BMX pedaling away to show me the motion. When my turn came, he swore he wouldn’t let go, and of course as soon as I started pedaling quickly he did. I turned around and when I saw that he had let go, I promptly turned the wheel and ran into a wall. Like a good student I dusted myself off and got back on the bike, and since that moment for me cycling represented my very first freedom – the ability to get somewhere without my parents (and for a relatively sheltered child it was amazing!) I still get that same sense of freedom even today – I will keep you posted on my cycling adventures.
Meanwhile, I wore this yesterday to a few meetings. I adore this asymmetrical skirt (also styled here) and I wanted to keep it chic but easy with flats. These shoes are one of my favorite flats (I rarely wear flats, but I like the slight stacked bottom on this pair) and they go with just about everything I own. The floppy hat trend continues through this fall and it is great for bad hair days (yup I was lazy this day).
I love a good rainy day but the relentless rain is more than I can take at this point. Photo sessions are being held indoors until further notice. I wore this out to a quick date night on Friday. I have been feeling extremely girly lately and the current 70-80 degree weather is perfect for skirts (and flats). When I saw this skirt I was in heaven. It is a great length and the blend wool fabric is perfect for Houston weather. I look forward to wearing it with OKB (over the knee boots).
