Hope everyone had a wonderful (albeit very chilly) weekend! I went cycling this weekend – I had to buy many accessories I never even knew existed like “sleeves”, “leg warmers”, under shell and gloves to go over my gloves) and I bit the big one. Yup, I fell and I fell hard. Good news is the bruises are all on my legs so you can not see them unless I am in a skirt. But I have been trying out various cover ups to make them less noticeable (a bit hard when the one on my knee is a half-dollar size and purple).
As Houstonians we wait desperately for this time of year. There is something so right about extremely chilly weather this time of year. It gets me prepared for the holidays – starting with my favorite holiday of all Thanksgiving. It is time to pull out my cashmere sweaters because chances are it will only last a day or two (current forecast for Thanksgiving is 80 degrees so I will be keeping the doors open in the family room).
I came across this cashmere sweater and absolutely love that the zipper is in the back. Today I turned it around so I could wear it as a cardigan. I have worn it both ways and you guys know I love a multifunctional piece of clothing (see here and here). The soft gray color had me (of course) excited to pair it with pink. These pink skinny pants might be the best pants ever made (they also come in every color imaginable). They are my new find and I LOVE them! They contain the right amount of stretch which makes them extremely flattering. Also, the fit is perfect around the waist and the length is just right for fun pumps.

Hope everyone is having a great week! It was my birthday last week, and nothing says festive like a tulle skirt. I love how girly I feel in tulle, and (of course) it reminds me of my ballerina dreams as a young girl. The opening scene in Sex in the City with Jessica Parker pretty much put tulle back on the map, taking a little girl’s fashion must-have and opening the door for the big girls to express some whimsy. Couple that with sequins and I was ready to celebrate the big day!
I hope everyone had a great weekend and remained as dry as possible! I cannot tell a lie I did enjoy the first day of torrential rain with coffee and a good book (I am currently reading An Unneccessary Woman). But as the rainy days have wore on and events have gotten canceled – I am pretty done with the rain at this point.
Today, I want to share an outfit I wore right before the rain storm started. I previously styled this tunic here with skinnies but I wanted to try it with flares today. This long tunic works with both silhouettes and is extremely flattering on different body shapes. The neutral color is also perfect for playing with different colors and today I added some army green through the jacket (see jacket styled here with a maxi). It was the perfect outfit that took me from meetings to date night.
Hope your having a fabulous week! I am off to the Northeast on Friday and have been busy packing and getting ready for the Holidays. A question that I have been asked quite often lately is “what is yourfavorite item of clothing?”. On the surface it would seem to be a straight forward question both to ask and to answer. However, it is not unlike asking a mother which one of her children is her favorite – you love them all equally, but differently (and your favorite changes based on how they are behaving!)
