Hope everyone has been having a good week! Just a quick post today about some of my favorite things on rotation right now – big sleeve top and bow flats! I came across this fun $24 bag and it reminded me of the Chloé bag (seen all over the place right now) and I had to have it. Isn’t it divine?
Hope everyone had a great weekend! I want to share a quick post with you about my new favorite designer – Caroline Constas. I love the voluminous shapes in her tops and dresses. It is a refreshing and edgy take on fashion using weightless cottons (which is a must for Houston heat, which is still going strong…) Her clothing has recently attracted a cult-like following and new items sell out rapidly. I decided to balance the sleeves with some volume on the bottom via flares, but this top would look equally good with skinny black jeans (preferably distressed!)
I just wanted to drop a quick line with a week of rain Instagram looks! It has been raining on and off all week and weekend! This week has been about my new obsessions – shorts, leopard slip on flats and new rain boots. I have heard that variety is the spice of life so I have invested in a new pair which I adore 🙂
I hope everyone has had a great start to the week! We are finishing up the school year with little person colds & coughs unfortunately, so this past week has been a little hectic (they couldn’t have held out two more weeks!?) Plus I have been running around like a headless chicken trying to prepare for the start of summer – camps, travel plans, packing, teacher gifts, etc etc etc.
I was perusing the internet for home goods for Rosemary when I cam across these linen palazzo pants – they are perfect for summer! They are extremely lightweight, on trend (remember these gorgeous palazzo pants here and here) and I adore the light pastel colors. I couldn’t resist them when I saw they were $19.99 – I wish they had more colors! I am planning to take them to Rosemary next week. I decided to play with the pastel colors in the pants by topping it off with a simple pink T and gold accents to keep it city chic.
It has been a long week – a case of strep is in the house! It has moved from my little one and is now centered on my daughter and Mr. Wonderful. It is only a matter of time before my oldest and I succumb. So I have to keep my post short and sweet today due to sleep deprivation. I wore this out last night for a quick date night dinner to Uchi (I am still silly in love with that place). I came across this T-shirt at Target and love the cheeky frog on it. The vibrant colors on the gray background make it the perfect mix of sober yet fun. I added my flares (also styled here in NYC) and I was ready to roll (long live the flares).
I hope everyone is having a great week! I just returned from Rosemary Beach (my personal heaven) from a mother-daughter getaway with my sweet baby girl. How often does a girl turn seven? I enjoyed every second of the big weekend, and it was amazing watching her with her friends (it’s funny how you can see glimmers of who they will be when they are old enough for their own weekend getaways….) I can only imagine the future (insert crazy eye emoticon).
I have been anxious to restyle this sleeveless blazer (styled here with jeans). This blazer is perfect for the Houston heat, and I decided to style it with a flirty fun skirt to show its versatility. Since the last styling was casual cool, I went uptown chic with it this time (it does go with everything). I added the super high heels (always) and some fun jewelry (remember when I styled it here with an all white summer look) and I was ready to roll for sunset cocktails. Why call it happy hour when “sunset cocktails” sounds so much more civilized? (genius Dubai, just genius).
I apologize for my recent sporadic posts, but between work, bringing my new au pair up to speed and the end of the school year things have been a bit crazy. Hopefully I will be back on my regular schedule very soon! Today I want to share a restyle of one of my favorite purchases – this pink fringe skirt. The movement on this skirt is so much fun that I really want to share a video of it in action! Remember my beach styling here? Today’s styling is a bit more relaxed – it was the perfect outfit for Mother’s Day Brunch!
Hope everyone is having a great week! As I am continuing my closet de-cluttering and spring cleaning I have been debating when does one splurge and when does one save? Classic basic items splurge but trendy items? Definitely NOT because they are trendy and by definition short-lived – one or two seasons. Having said that, I definitely love the distressed denim trend! I especially like to dress it up so it has an edgy cool feel (who doesn’t want that look?). I am currently obsessed with this particular pair of distressed denim jeans. When the trend it over I do not have to feel bad about my investment.
For this outfit I added a button down and a blazer and I was ready to roll…
I hope everyone is having a great week! My new au pair has arrived from Slovakia, and we just finished a trip to the Social Security Office – it was actually a lot less painful than I had imagined. We were in and out in about 30 minutes – I highly recommend going to any government office first thing in the morning!
I want to talk sleeveless blazers today. Living in an extremely hot environment, the sleeveless blazer is an answered prayer for me. I love blazers because they have the ability to upgrade almost any outfit, but with temperatures in the high 80s (already) a blazer during the day is a bit much. Enter this clean and sleek blazer with an amazing color combination – black, blue and white in the back, allowing it to complete almost any outfit (I am also partial to the fun striped lining….) What started as a jeans and t-shirt day became more elevated with this simple addition.
I apologize – I have spent the past two weeks hanging out with my mom, so the blog has largely been on vacation. We just got back from Rosemary Beach, where it was perfect weather other than one day of rain when we arrived. Actually I do not mind a little rain on vacation – it is the perfect excuse to curl up in my window nook with a good book. I am currently reading Uncovered by Leah Lax, and I cannot say enough good things about this book – run (do not walk) and get it immediately. Leah was my Table Talk speaker last week at the University of Houston Women’s Studies event. She is an amazing speaker and her life story is captivating – she had the entire table hanging on her every word. I do not want to give too much away, but I promise you will be just as enthralled as I am. I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts about the book if you get a chance to read it.
I just discovered this new knitwear collection by Zara and I am completely smitten. This skirt and sweater are extremely soft and light weight, making them the perfect pieces for a beach vacation. I intend to wear the skirt with a fitted T-shirt and a sweater to stay warm in restaurants at dinner (we tend to over air-condition everything here in Houston…) During the day with flip-flops it will be extremely casual, and at night I just need a pair of heels and some jewelry and I am ready to roll.
