I have been fighting a migraine all day today – my post is short and sweet today. Today I want to talk about sleeves – big gigantic, fluffy sleeves! Last summer was all about the cold shoulder but this year that trend has been transformed to voluminous sleeves. They can be found in every possible configuration and I really enjoy playing with the volume ratio top to bottom. They look great with just skinny jeans, wide legs pants and even a pencil skirt. I paired my big sleeve top with a circle skirt and some heels and I was ready to roll. If you haven’t tried this trend yet – it is worth trying and I have included some fun options below.
I hope everyone had a fabulous week! Today I am all about the kicks! It has been a few years of sporty flat wear and the inner New Yorker in me rejoices. Every season in New York I was constantly looking for the perfect pair of flats that I could wear everywhere (and with everything) so my feet wouldn’t hurt. If I was still in New York I would have more pairs of sneakers than I care to admit. I saw these Joshua Sanders slip on sneakers and completely fell in love a few months ago. But at the hefty price of $389 – I just could not make myself commit. However, when I came across these bow sneakers for a third of the price I became fully committed! They are the perfect pair of comfy yet chic kicks. I have worn them dressed up under a skirt, with these fun joggers and even with skinny jeans and a leather jacket. I cannot wait to take them when I travel – they will elevate every look to the next level no matter how casual.

I hope everyone has had a great week! I wanted to share a quick outfit post today about mixing some more colors with my favorite blush pink. And today it is totally about red – I am obsessed with this color right now! Mr. Wonderful loves when I wear red and the thing is I rarely indulge in this color. Depending on skin tone you have to invest in the correct red tone. With my olive complexion and yellow undertones a deep dark red is the way to go. If your skin is lighter with more peach tones – I would recommend a more orange-red (like this top here).
Spring is around the corner (in Houston it is well into summer on some days) but nothing screams spring like flowers. So cliché but so true. I saw this skirt at Zara and I love the length, the color combinations and the beautiful floral print. It is all around gorgeous and for $69 it is a steal! I wanted to play up the beautiful red flowers so I added a red bell sleeve top (sleeves are all the rage this summer) and topped it off with a neutral bag and shoes. Viola – ladies lunch here I come!
It has been too long since my last post and truth be told I have been slacking. The rush of the New Year has left me a bit under the ball (or bus – depending upon the day). I want to share a fun outfit I recently wore to the ladies BAFTA lunch. I have to confess I had completely forgotten about the event even though it was on my planner (iPhone quirks). My sweet girlfriend texted me “the soup is getting cold” – I was perplexed by this until her next text “the luncheon?” So I got up and quickly transformed from my pajamas and ran out to support the Brits. Considering everything I was pretty happy with the final result!
I adore pink (as you know) so I am always looking for new color to combine with my favorite hue. Black is an obvious, grey is a match made in heaven, white is delightful in summer and I added burgundy as a fun fall staple.
This will have to be short and sweet today because I am battling a migraine headache. I rarely get them but when I do they tend to linger. I want to share this gorgeous bustier with preppy buttons and chic color combination (it is also gorgeous in navy and black). There is a sale going on right now so use code GOBIG16. Since there is a bit of chill in the air (yeah for Houston) I added a top underneath for some extra warmth. This would also look amazing on a midi skirt or flare jeans. It has the ability to be dressed up and down!
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I couldn’t post Friday because I was playing in the Silver Raquets tennis tournament. The best weekend to have an outdoor tennis event. It was cool and breezy pretty much the entire time. It was a fun event and great to get back into something that I love.
Lace is a huge trend this fall and it is available in nearly every form. From dresses to tops to skirts. I love the delicacy of lace and the beautiful texture and patterns that it creates in one solid color. It is like wearing print but not. I came across this top and just fell in love with the color and shape. I also appreciated the fact that the lace top came with a matching color tank top. It made the top so much easier to wear. The pink is my favorite but I really like the black and white options as well. I paired the top with flared denim but it would be equally fun with skinnies or a pencil skirt.
Hope everyone had a great weekend! I want to share a quick post with you about my new favorite designer – Caroline Constas. I love the voluminous shapes in her tops and dresses. It is a refreshing and edgy take on fashion using weightless cottons (which is a must for Houston heat, which is still going strong…) Her clothing has recently attracted a cult-like following and new items sell out rapidly. I decided to balance the sleeves with some volume on the bottom via flares, but this top would look equally good with skinny black jeans (preferably distressed!)
I hope everyone is having a great week! I want to share some additional pics from SWFW (Fashion Week) in Rosemary last week. These are actually separates that I wore together – red pants and a draped red top with a fun shiny belt to pull it all together. Everyone who approached me all night assumed that it was a dress! When using monochromatic color it is always fun to use some fun textures – fringe, pleats, draped style, etc. to make the outfit visually more interesting. I also added the fun card clutch for a touch of whimsy!
P.S. Just discovered these shoes are 30% today use code MAINEVENT16 – click here
I hope everyone has had a wonderful week! I must confess, I have been enjoying my fall break in Rosemary with the kiddos and Mr. Wonderful, so my blog was on the back burner all week. There is nothing like a week away from home to recharge the batteries. Lucky for me, it also happened to be South Walton Fashion Week, so I was able to attend a number of shows and to see some amazing new emerging talent (as well as the Christian Siriano pre-show peek at Alys beach!) The weather was perfect – blue skies, puffy clouds and a great breeze. Since the show was outdoors, I decided to keep things fun and easy with this super cute pink full skirt (I had mine shortened) and a loose white button down shirt. To give the outfit a little “edge”, I added my studded pumps and a fun belt. I also grabbed my favorite new clutch from Misela (which I purchased at Atrium RTW at a recent trunk show; and the best part – I got to pick my colors and stitching, so of course it is blush pink….)
